Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Peter says that he still remembers when bringing Diane back was in the planning phase. He told the publication, “I’ve got to tell you that when I first heard about it, when it was just an idea and not even the first scene had been written yet, I thought, ‘Wait a minute, that’s a fantastic story!’ And the writers took that and made it so much greater than I imagined. This is a giant credit to them. And, of course, the real credit goes to Susan Walters, who thankfully came back to play Diane, and is knowing it out of the park.”

What’s more, Peter also says that moth Susan and Phyllis (played by Michelle Stafford) are his favorite “supercouple” right now. Who would have thought, right? He explained, “It’s so much fun to watch their characters go at it with each other. Those ladies are so good together. I adore working with both of them and am deeply flattered to find myself between the two of them. But really, they are my new favorite supercouple.”

What’s more, Michael Mealor, who plays Kyle Abbott on the show, says that he is a huge fan of his soap mom, too. He said, “She’s one of my favorite people to have scenes with right now. I was well aware of her body of work and not just from Y&R, so I knew what an incredible performer she is. We are very lucky to have her back.”

Now, as far as Kyle is going to be a fan of his on-screen mom Diane just as much as Kyle loves her off-screen remains to be seen. Of course, The Young and the Restless fans will have to tune in to find out what will happen next!
