The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Susan Walters Says Her Diane Jenkins Was Always Alive

The Young and the Restless spoilers say that the last time fans got to see Diane Jenkins was back in 2011, when she was dead with her face lying down in the water. The character was then played by Maura West, who went on to take the role of Ava Jerome on General Hospital. However, fans were pleasantly surprised to find out that the other Diane that they got to know on the small screen – Diane Jenkins – decided to come back to reprise the role. Here’s what she has to say about her comeback!

The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Susan Walters Says Her Diane Jenkins Was Always Alive

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Susan says that she got the all-important phone call from The Young and the Restless Executive Producer Tony Morina asking her to come back on the show. Recalling their conversation, Susan explained, “Tony said, ‘Hey, we are bringing Diane back. Would you be interested?’ I was texting with my manager at the same time, ‘Oh my God! Y&R wants me back!’ and I told Tony, ‘Yeah, let’s do it!’ When I later told him about ignoring his first message, I said, ‘What if I never called you?’ He said, ‘Well Susan, we would have kept trying!’”

That said, Susan knows that her character was killed by Nikki in self-defense. Luckily, Tony Morina and the crew had an idea of how they would bring Diane back in a way that would make sense for viewers.

Susan continued, “Tony explained how they were going to make it work. I just said, ‘Doesn’t matter to me. My Diane was alive when I left, so I have no problem coming back. That’s somebody else’s problem [laughs].’”
