Days of Our lives Comings and Goings: Patrika Darbo Opens Up About Her Return To Salem
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Patrika makes it no secret that she was very flattered when the producers of Days of Our Lives had asked her to come back on the show. Explaining that she began taping last September, she told the publication, “I thought I was coming on for a couple of scenes. I didn’t realize how big the storyline was – and what it was. I was like, ‘Holy crap. I’m a lot older now. How many lines am I going to have to learn?’”
Yet, the talented actress says that she was eager to get into her new storyline and is thankful that she’s gotten so much support from her co-stars and of course, Days of Our Lives head writer, Ron Carlivati. She said, “Ron has created a storyline that is unprecedented and is going to be fabulous. I hope. It may upset a few people, and it may not. It will be an adventure.”
As many fans already know, Patrika has had a colorful career in daytime television. She’s best known for her roles as Sally on General Hospital, Shirley Spectra on the Bold and the Beautiful andon The Young and the Restless, too. And for Patrika, she says that she’s happy that she still gets an opportunity to do what she does best, and that’s play her characters in front of the cameras.

She said, “As a performer, you are always grateful that they still want you, that your fans still love you. I can’t say enough about the fact that daytime embraced me back in 1998 and has kept its arms around me all the time. It’s very heartwarming.”
Patrika also added that the prospect of resurrecting Nancy made the whole thing even sweeter. She said, “I thought it would be fun. I adore Nadia Bjorlin as my daughter. We’ve kept in touch over the years. And Eric Martsolf and I have done events together, and I think he’s wonderfully talented, so to come back and play with them has been great.”
