That’s because there’s been an improvement in the ratings, with a lot of people wondering if it has to do with the Ashland Locke storyline and the phenomenal acting by newcoming Robert Newman. According to new reports, there were over 3.2 million people who tuned in to watch The Young and the Restless last week, which was an increase of 191,000 viewers from the previous week. A lot of people believe this might have had something to do with the Ashland Locke storyline, as Victor Newman (Eric Braden) has managed to expose him for the conman that he is.
Of course, it didn’t take very long for both fans and critics to weigh in on the matter on social media. Many of them have commented with, “Y&R improved for a few days with what I thought was the Ashland climax but now we’re back to the drudgery. Why on earth it’s still the no1 soap is beyond me. That, and because there are a lot viewers that tune in because they understand how YR does it storytelling but it’s not for everyone I know,” along with, “Y&R is definitely better. On the right track. I’d like to see more of Michael Baldwin in this Ashland storyline. The Young and The Restless needs pay Robert Newman handsomely and make sure he’s on a long term contract.”
Another fan wrote, “YR can still be slow…but, this Ashland story and Jack story I’m genuinely enjoying. The newmans are really messy and I feel genuine emotion from the Abbotts. The only story I dislike rn is this baby drama. However, Chance deep diving into his ptsd is intriguing.”

Y&R has dropped the ball, I an very intrigued about the Ashland Lock storyline because of Robert Newman..but please cut that Abby and Devon unrealistic crap. It is boring and doesn’t make any sense the actors are just making up stuff as they go..I hope the writer can do bender!!!
The producer for Y & R needs to leave the story alone. Please don’t make Abby and Chance separate because of Devon’s greedy ways. Him and Amanda need to have their own baby. Look at Mariah you don’t find her trying to go for custody. Her and Tessa are going to have a baby of their own or adopt. Devon has gotten more than enough from Abby and Chance. He doesn’t need to go for sole custody. He’s not the parent Abby and Chance are. Let them be a happy family and quit trying to cause more problems for them. Leave the story line alone. And as far as Victoria and Ashland go get rid of Ashland. I don’t like the new Ashland and how much more is Victoria going to take from him.
I love seeing Robert Newman on YR. He is still as handsome as ever. I hope he sticks around on YR.
Ratings were down, because of the whole Abby, Chance, Devon story. No way should he have ever gotten shared custody. He was the sperm donor, PERIOD! He signed away his parental rights when the contract was drawn up. And Chance………granted he has PTSD, but to watch a whole hour of his sulking, Abby stroking his hair, & him not being able to bond with Dominic. The whole story line is VERY boring! I also think it is time for Victoria to be knocked down off of her high horse and let Victor give the CEO title to Adam
Love the Ashland Locke story line. Superb acting by both Robert Newman & Victor. Hope this goes on for a while. Like the Devon Abby story line. It’s made me dislike Devon – I used to love him. I hope that it will come out that he’s not the father so will lose his shared custody. He deserves that. Not crazy about the Jack story line right now. It’s quite boring. Y&R was quite boring back a few weeks ago – I was wondering if new writers were on board. But finally when the Ashland Locke story line blew up, Y & R are back. Keep it up.
