The Young and the Restless Star Tracey Bregman Says Lauren Is The Ultimate Soap Mean Girl
The Young and the Restless spoilers say that she’s young, she’s restless, but she could easily be both bold and beautiful, too. Of course, we are talking about actress Tracey Bregman, who is best known for her role as Lauren Fenmore Baldwin on the hit CBS soap. Tracey just celebrated her 39th anniversary on the show and is reflecting on some of her character’s highlights along with her lowlights. Here’s what she has to say!
The Young and the Restless Star Tracey Bregman Says Lauren Is The Ultimate Soap Mean Girl
Speaking to Soaps.com in a new interview, the talented and beautiful actress said that when she first came onto the scene, the writers of the show had a totally different idea as to what they wanted for her character Lauren. She recalled, “I was originally brought on to be the best friend of Beth Maitland’s Traci. I had all these pages of dialogue with her. There was a big monologue about losing my virginity, and the original thought was that I would be playing a good girl.”
That said, it didn’t take very long to establish a long running feud between Traci and Lauren. The actress explained, “A few months later, I was doing a scene with Beth. We were at the coffeehouse, and as I was exiting, I turned back to look at Beth. Bill Bell later told me that in that moment, Lauren Fenmore, the original mean girl, was born.”
Tracey also compared her character’s marriages to Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and MIchael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). She said, “She hadn’t really lived enough of her own life to be a good wife to Paul. Whereas with Michael, she didn’t see him coming, but she was in a place in her life where she was ready for the kind of commitment that they’ve had ever since.”
