According to the General Hospital spoilers, Avery Pohl shared an update with fans via Zoom on Friday, February 16. She plays Esme Prince on the show. Pohl’s last time on the show was when her character fell off the boat.
The user EsKris52 teased the details on the SoapCentral.com Message Boards. The original poster attended the event that included Avery Pohl and Adam Huss. The General Hospital spoilers reveal that both actors don’t have a return date.
Pohl isn’t sure when she’ll return to the daytime soap. She’s waiting to see when they need her. It sounds like Pohl is on a recurring contract, which means she’ll appear on the show when her character has a storyline.
Sadly, Pohl doesn’t think she’s returning anytime soon. General Hospital changed because of the new writers and revamp. Pohl was informed during the writers’ strike that she would be let go. The news of her departure wasn’t as sudden to her as it was to GH fans.
Regardless, Pohl is committed to working in the entertainment industry. She revealed that she is auditioning for other roles. GH fans took to the thread to share their thoughts. Most of them were disappointed by this news.
“So, did she even sign a three-year contract, as had been previously mentioned? And if she did, the show just terminated the contract?” one fan asked.
“She completed two and a half years of her contract. Esme was on for 30 months,” another user noted.
General Hospital Spoilers: The Show Occasionally Drops Actors
According to the General Hospital spoilers, the soap opera tends to drop actors out of the blue. They drop an actor every thirteen weeks, which is how they keep their cast full. It also explains the newly revamped cast and storylines. It’s a “standard practice” among most shows.
“It’s insane for GH to let Avery Pohl go. She’s one of the best actresses to join the cast in a long time,” one fan noted.
Some GH fans are most disappointed that Adam Huss won’t reprise his role as Prince Nikolas Cassadine. However, others are conflicted about his portrayal of the legacy character.
Huss also had some details to share. He admitted that he was not legally able to share details on Nikolas’ return. It seems like he was teasing a possible return, which is currently up in the air.

I’m not disappointed that Esma is not returning, she was a monster, but her acting skills were great. I wish her well somewhere else.
I actually liked Nu Esme. I was hoping she’d hang around for the foreseeable future. Guess that’ll teach me to hope huh! Lol.
