While a lot of actors from both the past and present were included in the cast photo, Doug, who was best known for his role as Paul Williams, is nowhere to be found. This has prompted a lot of fans to wonder why the producers of the show have excluded him both on and off screen in the way they have. Here’s what you need to know.

Everyone from Eric Braeden to Sharon Case and Mark Grossman and Courtney Hope were included in the star-studded photo for The Young and the Restless’ 50th anniversary. And while Doug Davidson is one actor that has been with the hit CBS soap from the start, for some reason or another he was excluded from the legendary cast pic. That, and it seems like he hasn’t been included or even invited for any of the show’s anniversary celebrations, either. This has a lot of fans wondering why the producers have gone to such a length to exclude Doug, and also while knowing that he’s got such a large fan base that supports him, too.
To add insult to injury, there was even speculation that Doug’s character, Paul Williams, was going to get killed off the show. While Y&R writers haven’t made any comments about the matter, Doug has hinted that a return to the show is not in the cards. That’s not because he doesn’t want to return to The Young and the Restless, but because it seems like the writers have no place to put Paul in any of their current storylines. For a lot of Doug’s fans, this is a true shame. Many have even signed a petition in the hopes that he would be brought back to the show.
