The Young and the Restless News: Here’s How Eric Braeden Has Been Keeping Fit

The Young and the Restless wouldn’t be the same without Victor Newman and there’s no doubt that almost every fan of the show knows it. That might also be the reason why actor Eric Braeden has been taking the time to keep fit lately, as he also knows that the show and the show’s storylines all revolve around the things his character does and says. Here’s what you need to know.

The Young and the Restless News: Here’s How Eric Braeden Has Been Keeping Fit

Eric Braeden is someone who likes to keep in shape – both on and off screen! The actor shared a photo of himself getting ready to hit a stationary bike on his Twitter account. He captioned it with, “Early workout.” It is certainly hard to imagine that the legendary daytime television actor is 81 but he is!

Many of his Twitter fans commented on his pic with, “Always have admired you for staying on top top shape.  I still remember you training with Nick on the punching bag,” along with, “Oh Eric, you were always respected, and/or worshipped, by me and my mom. Lookin’ great!”

Another fan wrote, “Wel I’ll be damned, you are looking good!”

Back in March, Eric hinted that he almost got fired from the show, which in itself is hard to believe. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Eric said a few years ago there were some producers that wanted to take the soap in a different direction, and that direction was without Victor Newman in the forefront.

The Young and the Restless News: Victor Newman Is Here To Stay

“What the last regime really wanted, to be frank with you, was to get rid of me and get rid of Melody [Thomas Scott, Nikki], if you want to know the truth.”

Apparently, this all came after Eric had pressed the writers at the time and asked, “When are we going to see Victor be Victor?”

In response, Eric said, “The last regime introduced things that no one gave a damn about, okay? Let’s call a spade a spade. No one gave a damn about some of those storylines, no one, because they were not part of the history of that show! I hate to say it, but obviously, the Newman empire is one of the main cornerstones of the show.”

Eric then continued, “You must remember that people who come onto the show as new executive producers have their own egos, and they think they can rewrite it, they can redo it all. What they don’t understand is that [Co-Creator/Former Head Writer] Bill Bell was a brilliant man who laid a very sound foundation, and if you want to veer away from that foundation, it will begin to flounder. That’s all I’m going to say.”
