In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Melissa says that Chelsea will be stepping down from her designer position. Melissa previews, “Lauren [Tracey Bregman] is definitely shocked and a little upset at first because there are important deadlines coming up and now Chelsea is telling her that she basically has nothing. After Chelsea explains that her mental health is at risk, Lauren becomes understanding.”
The Young and the Restless spoilers say that while Chelsea will decline an offer to work with Kyle and Summer on their Marchetti brand, she’s going to give Billy’s offer to work with him on his podcast a go. Melissa said, “When he asked what she thought of his podcast, she was like, ‘To be honest, your podcast is boring and serious. It needs some levity.’ So when Billy finds out Chelsea isn’t in the design business anymore, he comes to her and says, ‘You gave me great insight about my podcast. Why don’t you join me?’”
If that weren’t enough, it seems like Chelsea is desperate to close one chapter and start another one in her life instead. Melissa said, “She’s trying to come out of these dark times and start fresh, so this could be what she needs. So, will Chelsea start a new career with a friend who could potentially become more than just a friend?”

Of course, many The Young and the Restless fans weighed in on the storyline with, “It’s kind of funny how the show is acknowledging how boring the podcast arc is. Billy and Chelsea could work, but I’d rather Chelsea go after Kyle. They had something really interesting in those scenes. And why not just bring back Restless Style? Why invest in this stupid podcast?”
Another fan said, “The pairing of Billy & Chelsea, despite the amazing chemistry between Jason Thompson & Melissa Claire Egan, is so off-putting. It breeds Laura & Luke teas. It’s inappropriate. And I don’t get why Chelsea would work for a podcast…. every regime has tried so hard to make Chelsea a fashion designer, so the Marchetti deal is a shoe-in for her. If Caroline Spencer were still alive, I’d say poach Linsey Godfrey from Days of Our Lives… though, Bradley Bell ignores history and so does Anthony Morina & Josh Griffith, so revive the character or bring on Rick Forrester, etc.”
