General Hospital Spoilers: What Will It Look Like If Maxie Gives Lulu and Nathan Her Blessing?

General Hospital spoilers gush Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) is inching closer to learning the truth about what her husband and best friend have been up to all this time she was in a coma.

Okay, it wasn’t the entire time. But their smooch on Wednesday in a hospital corridor upset the apple cart when Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) saw the whole thing go down and demanded that Lulu tell Maxie the truth.

It looks like we might possibly see that engagement start to play out on Friday’s episode, per the previews. But I have to wonder: What would this look like if Maxie gave them her blessing to be together, versus the doom and gloom they’re expecting?

Lulu Doesn’t Want This to End Their Friendship

When Lulu fled to Nathan after her encounter with Felicia to share what happened in their exchange, she was more determined than ever to get to Maxie and lay their cards on the table.

But she made one very clear statement that she hoped she wouldn’t lose Maxie’s friendship over this.

Ha! Fat chance, right? That seems to be Felicia’s point of view, as she essentially told Lulu good luck on straddling the fence and trying to hang onto both your best friend and her husband.

But is it impossible? This is Maxie we’re talking about here.

Maxie Moves Forward With Grace

Leave it to Maxie of all people to have enough gumption and grace combined to quit when she’s ahead. Nathan was the one who put her on the spot and asked where her life with Spinelli leaves his relationship with her.

She’s the one who shut down any chance of there still being a relationship there. She could choose to take one for the team here and pretend she’s cool with it, knowing the odds of Lulu ending up with Nathan long-term weren’t huge.

She might also have an inkling that it’ll never work out, for reasons unbeknownst to us right now.

But if I’m being honest, I can totally see Maxie telling them to explore their feelings and figure it out, acknowledging she shouldn’t and doesn’t want to stand in the way of anyone’s love. After all, she loves them both and wants them to be happy.

Things Fall Apart

Maxie may have every intention of letting Lulu and Nathan do their thing, but seeing it in action is going to be a very different experience — especially since she didn’t get a reboot.

She’s already invested in this life she built with Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), and she’s not willing to risk it to go find out if anything still exists between her and Nathan.

But that doesn’t mean nothing does, and it doesn’t mean he’s inherently easy to look at and not think of him as the greatest love of her life.

So seeing him with another woman — and not just any other woman, but her best friend — may not be as simple as she’s pretending.

How could that discomfort manifest itself moving forward? It might look like family dysfunction with a side of losing her best friend. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
