The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Eric Braeden Displeased With Ashland’s Death, Wanted Victor to be the Killer!

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that soap icon Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) was not too happy with the death of his onscreen enemy Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). In a recent interview with James Lott Jr., the soap legend spilled, “Obviously, not everything can be 100 percent satisfaction. It’s not possible.”

But that’s not to say that the Locke Ness Monster won’t make a triumphant return at some point down the road. Soap death is very flexible, and the Grim Reaper has been known to have been cheated multiple times in daytime. Of course the return of Ashland is pure speculation!

The Young and the Restless spoilers: What Does Eric Braeden Think Of Soap Deaths?

According to Braeden, he fully understands the constraints placed on soap writers: “It’s the most difficult job to write for a soap opera. There’s nothing more difficult. I don’t know how they do it. I do not know how they come up with these stories day in and day out, year in and year out. Endless! That’s hard, that’s very, very hard.”

He added, “I admire them, I have great respect for writers.”

Guiding Light veteran Robert Newman was brought in at the last minute to replace Richard Burgi in the role. He was not there long when the long hand of death struck his character. Or rather, the Newman family put him in an early grave, with Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) being behind the bad guy’s death.

Of Newman, Braeden said, “We didn’t work together that much,” but praised him as, “a good actor.”

Braeden noted that, “I was not necessarily that happy that I didn’t do more between Victor and Ashland.”

The Young and the Restless spoilers: Will Victor Newman Reign Supreme?

As his character Victor Newman, Braeden said, “I watched Ashland come into town, and I suspected him from the very beginning. I didn’t trust him from the beginning.”

Along the way Ashland married Victor’s trophy daughter, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). But things went south when the depth of his lying deviousness was revealed.

Ashland was a cad and a liar and a danger to the family and its business empire, Newman Enterprises.

“I thought it should have been Victor who does him in because he’s protecting his family,” said Braeden. “But then, Nicholas protects his sister. I had seen the ending differently, but yeah.” Tell us who you think should have been responsible for Ashland’s demise Y&R fans!
