Loved Ones Aren’t Getting Through Adam Newman’s Head

Adam is supremely stubborn. He also defaults to the wounded childhood scenario whenever he believes his lone surviving parent has wronged him.

There was a time when Victor treated Adam terribly. But Adam also tried to kill his father and sided with his mortal enemy, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), on numerous occasions. He still considers Jack to be a good friend, in part because he knows that irks the father who he derisively refers to as the old man, among other nicknames.

Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) has forgiven Adam many times. To be fair, he received plenty of incoming from her in the past. But both people seemed to be in sync since reconnecting while they were respectively involved with Billy and Sally in the recent past.

However, Adam’s growing attachment to Ruby threatens his fragile truce with Billy and could create more trouble for Chelsea.

Chelsea Lawson Right To Be Concerned

It’s not that she would want to set an ultimatum. But Chelsea might have to.

She will need to tell Adam to back off Sally, Billy, and Ruby for the immediate future. Telling Adam that his plan for them to have another child is coming from a misguided direction was also the proper reaction.

Indeed, Chelsea has already challenged Adam’s reasons for wanting another baby, making it clear that she doesn’t want a child simply because Sally and Billy had one.

Adam is a hard guy to love or live with. Chelsea is doing both, but she could ice him out of her life again if he doesn’t keep himself in check. That’s far from guaranteed, and there’s no telling how he would respond to multiple people if Chelsea were to break from him in the near future, which now seems possible.
