Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Takes On Police – But King Charles Won’t Pay His Legal Bills?

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly pursuing a case against the Thames Valley Police that arrested him back in February, on his birthday of all days. Back then, the former Prince was enveloped in a number of scandals.

But I guess now that things have cooled down a little, he’s looking to settle some scores with both the Thames Valley Police and the Central Criminal Court. The thing is, he’s not allowed to do this off of the allowance he receives from big brother King Charles.

5 Key Takeaways

  • Andrew challenges police search warrants
  • Legal team questions warrants’ lawfulness
  • King Charles reportedly provides an allowance
  • Legal expenses may not be covered
  • Andrew faces another costly battle

Why Former Prince Andrew Might Lack Funds To Pursue His Case Against the Police

A lot has happened to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since the now-late Virginia Giuffre named him as one of the rich and influential people involved in Jeffrey Epstein’s shady world. He lost all his patronage, his HRH styling, his access to the royal grant, his military honors, and late last year, his Duke title and his lush Palace Lodge.

Now, he’s a former Prince living out his days cooped up in a much smaller property located in the Sandringham estate.

However, having been cut off from the Royal Grant and selling off his Switzerland luxury ski resort to settle his Giuffre case, Andrew is not doing so well financially. As a result of this, King Charles has chosen to give him monthly allowances so that he can take care of his day-to-day living. But, the one thing this monthly stipend must not cover is Andrew’s decision to battle it out with the police in court.

While it’s not been officially established how much the King actually gives to his brother, we do know that it’s from his private pocket and not from the £138m in public funding for the monarchy.

Andrew Challenges Thames Valley Police and the Central Criminal Court Over Arrest Warrants

When Andrew was arrested in February, sources claimed the former Prince was shocked beyond belief, to the point he kept exclaiming that he can’t be arrested since he is the Queen’s son.

Even though he didn’t exactly get to sleep in a jail cell, Andrew has assembled his legal team to go after Thames Valley Police and the Central Criminal Court.

Per the BBC, they are challenging the lawfulness of warrants used for searches of Sandringham and Royal Lodge. This also happens to be his first public reaction to the shock arrest.

The said warrants had been issued by a judge at the Central Criminal Court on 18 February, just a day before Andrew was arrested.
