General Hospital: John J York Gives Fans A Thanksgiving Update

General Hospital news suggests he is doing much better than expected and that’s certainly a good thing! Actor John J. York, who is on leave from the hit ABC soap because of his health issues, has recently taken to his Twitter account to show his fans, followers and supporters a little holiday love. Here’s what you need to know.

General Hospital: John J York Gives Fans A Thanksgiving Update

As many fans are probably aware of by now, John, who is best known for his role as Mac Scorpio on General Hospital, John was diagnosed just last year with two blood and bone marrow cancers, myelodysplastic syndrome and multiple smoldering myeloma.

Earlier this month he begun his life-saving transplant. John was lucky to find a donor on BeTheMatch.org but had to go through months of grueling tests.

John might be in the hospital right now, but that hasn’t stopped him from reaching out to his fans. Much to the surprise of his followers, he wrote on Twitter, “HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Have WONDERFUL DAY.” He also added a turkey emoji and a red heart emoji.

Many of John’s followers commented with, “I was just thinking about you and wondering how you were doing! Happy Thanksgiving!” along with,

“Have a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and your family. I hope you are doing well. Thinking about you all the time and sending you positive vibes.”

General Hospital: John Is Currently Hospitalized

Another fan wrote, “Hope that you are doing well and feeling all the prayers and best wishes being sent your way.”

Back in September, John announced that he would be leaving General Hospital over a frightening health condition. The news definitely had a lot of his fans very concerned.

He wrote on social media, “And here it is. So last December, of ’22, I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndromes, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma, two blood and bone marrow disorders.

Over the past many months, I’ve had three bone marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments, I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks, and I’m closing in on a blood stem cell transplant.

I’ve been working with some wonderful people at Be The Match to find a potential donor on their registry.”
