Tragic Details About Camilla Parker Bowles
You think you know everything about the royal family until you realize you don’t know much about them. Here are just a few tragic details about Camilla Parker Bowles’ life. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Royal Family News: Tragic Details About Camilla Parker Bowles
One of the reasons why Camilla Parker Bowles is so vocal about wanting to end domestic violence or at least create more awareness about it is because her own family had dealt with it in the past. Apparently, Camilla’s paternal grandfather had abused her grandmother so much during her pregnancy in the early 1900’s that she moved out of the house, which was very uncommon among British aristocrats at the time. Camilla’s grandmother filed for divorce in 1919.
Camilla’s own love story with Prince Charles isn’t one without heartache, either. Even though the two first met in 1970 through mutual friends, they were forced to end their relationship in 1971. That’s because the royal family didn’t think that Camilla’s family was aristocratic enough for the royals. As the entire world knows, Prince Charles went on to marry Princess Diana, but that marriage was anything but peaceful.
Camilla also became a laughing stock when the entire world heard her private conversation with Prince Charles after their phones were tapped in one of the biggest scandals in British modern history. Prince Charles told his mistress that he wished that he could become her tampon just because… well, we’ll let you look that one up yourselves.
Royal Family News: The BBC Panaroma Interview That Rocked The World
If that weren’t enough, Princess Diana also famously said during her BBC panorama interview that she believed there were three people in her marriage, including herself, Prince Charles, and of course, Camilla Parker Bowles. The future Queen of England at that moment in her life became the most hated woman in all of England.
In 1994, Camilla’s mother, Rosalind Shand, died from osteoporosis. The late 90’s turned out to be a very difficult period for Camilla and especially after Princess Diana died in 1997. According to reports, it took Queen Elizabeth a very long time to accept Camilla in the family and it wasn’t until she married Prince Charles in 2005 that the queen realized just how happy Camilla had made her son. However, the queen did not attend their wedding.
In 2014, Camilla’s brother Mark Shand died in a horrible accident. He was at a charity event in New York City. After the event, he fell and hit his head and was pronounced dead at the hospital. In 2021, Camilla’s son, Tom Parker Bowles, announced that he was getting a divorce after 13 years of marriage. But the worst thing to have happened to Camilla is when Prince Harry made some pretty off color remarks about his step mother when he said that she was so hungry to climb up the royal ladder that she would have “left bodies in the street’ during her ascent within the royal family.
