British Royal News: King Charles Releases Statement On Queen Elizabeth’s Death

King Charles has made a statement about the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth soon after it was announced that she died. He said: “The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty the Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family. We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved mother.”

King Charles, along with his siblings Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew, all rushed to Balmoral after it was announced that doctors were concerned about the queen’s condition. Prince William also arrived in Scotland following the news while it has been reported that his brother Prince Harry showed up late.

As head of state for the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, her 70-year reign spanned more than a dozen U.S. presidents and nine popes. Elizabeth wed Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark, whom she supposedly first fell in love with at age 13, on Nov. 20, 1947, at Westminster Abbey. Elizabeth was on a trip with her husband to Kenya when she received word of her father’s death on Feb. 6, 1952, at age 56. The cause of death was cancer.
