For almost eight years, Jacob Young played the role of Adam “JR” Chandler Jr. on the ABC soap opera All My Children. With a renewed interest in bringing back the beloved series, the actor is now contemplating a return to the character that established him as a daytime TV fixture.
Young recently chatted with veteran soap opera journalist Michael Fairman at the premiere of his new independent film, “A Murder Amongst Friends”.
In the interview, the actor reminisced about his time in daytime television, including his stint on General Hospital, where he portrayed Lucky Spencer. Plus, he also shared insights on the latest news regarding All My Children.
Jacob Expressed Interest In Reprising His Role As J.R. Chandler
In the course of their discussion, Fairman inquired about the latest news regarding Kelly Ripa’s plans to create two potential All My Children films for Lifetime.
Young pointed out that the recent success of CBS’s Beyond the Gates has sparked renewed interest in bringing back classic soap operas. “I believe that Beyond the Gates has truly revitalized the idea of reviving shows like All My Children,” Young remarked.
When asked if he would be open to returning to the series should a revival take place, he was excited. Young was quick to respond, “If they decide to go ahead with it, I’m definitely on board,” he expressed.
Jacob Took Over The Role Of JR Chandler In 2003
In 2003, Young became a part of the beloved cast of All My Children, taking on the iconic role of JR Chandler, a character that had been previously brought to life by Andrew Ridings.
This role had a rich history, having been portrayed by a number of talented actors before him, including Jonathan Bennett and Jesse McCartney. Young’s journey with the series continued until its unfortunate cancellation in 2011.
Beyond All My Children, he also made his mark on CBS’s The Young and The Restless and The Bold and The Beautiful, where he took on the role of Rick Forrester. Additionally, he made a guest appearance in an episode of NBC
Peacock’s Days Of Our Lives, portraying a character named Kinsey.

In a recent episode of her Sirius XM podcast titled Let’s Talk Off Camera, the former All My Children star Kelly Ripa discussed the two movie projects.
During a conversation with her co-star Susan Lucci, that she and her husband Mark Consuelos are in the process of creating two All My Children movies for Lifetime. This is through their production company, Milojo.
While discussing the potential of returning to Pine Valley, Lucci expressed her enthusiasm by saying, “I would love to play Erica Kane again.” As for Jacob’s latest project, “A Murder Amongst Friends,” it is now available for rental or purchase across all major VOD platforms.
