The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Adam’s Ruby Obsession Threatens Billy and Sally’s Marriage

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) finally found himself in a good position. It’s one he hasn’t been in since being accused of accidentally killing Delia Abbott (Sophie Pollono) oh so many soapy years ago.

Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) was sincere. He thanked Adam, shaking his hand, after having time to digest that Grossman’s character played a heroic role in delivering Ruby Spectra Abbott into the world.

Sally Spectra Abbott (Courtney Hope) knows her husband better than anyone. She also knows Adam well. However, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) knows her restored romantic connection, or whatever she’s choosing to call what she has reestablished with Adam, better.

Key Takeaways

  • Billy sincerely thanks Adam for delivering baby Ruby
  • Chelsea remains hesitant about marrying Adam again
  • Sally is committed to her marriage and new baby
  • Adam’s attachment to Ruby threatens his fragile truce with Billy
  • Jack could help prevent another family conflict

Why Is Chelsea Lawson Refusing To Marry?

The short answer to the subject header is subjective. But no one can blame Chelsea for being hesitant, possibly indefinitely, about remarrying Adam.

She was married to him twice, for short stints. But their last real-time union happened in 2014 and only lasted during that calendar year in real time. As for soap time, it’s been many years since this pairing called each other husband and wife.

Chelsea realized that she couldn’t trust Adam to remain committed to her. Through the years, he’s been focused on Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and, more recently, Sally.

The daughter, Ava, he and Sally lost binds them forever and has played a significant role in the new experience they shared through Ruby’s birth.

As Sally and Adam’s painful memories of losing Ava resurface, Chelsea has good reason to worry about where his emotions might lead.

Sally Spectra Abbott Loves Being A Wife

Sally accepted Billy’s engagement offer and joyfully married him in a memorable religious ceremony earlier this month. That day proved momentous times three because she went into labor after the wedding, and Billy learned that his mother, Jill Abbott (last played by Lauren Koslow, with Jess Walton having portrayed this character for many decades before her), had a heart attack in London, England.

Hope’s character has no problem with the institution of marriage or wanting to be known as Billy’s wife. He is her husband. In contrast, consider Chelsea’s problem with using those terms or legally and morally committing to Adam.

So, Sally has clarity. That’s why she will try to respond to Adam’s obvious emotional desire to be part of Ruby’s life using all means necessary.

As Sally moves forward with Billy while Adam struggles with his past, their very different approaches to Ruby’s birth could create even more tension.

Adam Newman’s Fixation Doesn’t Fit

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) has a unique perspective and sway with two key players in this drama. He’s Billy’s older brother who recently reaffirmed his complete support, and Jack is also a father figure to Adam and his arguable best friend following Chelsea.

Yes, Chelsea also falls into the friend category for Adam, making fans wonder how many categories other than one true love she slots into.

Billy and Chelsea will benefit from Sally’s Abbott family efforts to block Adam’s misguided intentions from becoming a major problem.

In fact, Sally’s decision to seek Jack’s help over Adam’s growing attachment to Ruby could be the key to keeping the peace.

Sally’s husband and Ruby’s father has genuinely adjusted his stance on Adam, and that outlook can persist as long as Chelsea’s significant other, lovey-dovey, or whoever Adam is to her, doesn’t create a problem by openly challenging Billy’s commitment to his wife and their new baby.

Annemarie’s Take

I think Adam genuinely wants to do the right thing, but his feelings about Ruby are clearly getting complicated. Billy showed a lot of maturity by thanking him, and it would be a shame to see that progress destroyed. Chelsea has every reason to be cautious about marrying Adam again, especially if he can’t stop focusing on Sally and her daughter. Hopefully, Jack can help before things get completely out of hand!
