General Hospital Spoilers: Make It Stop – GH Needs to Stop Teasing Us About Sonny and Justine
General Hospital spoilers claim Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) have been playing a game of cat and mouse for a while now.
Some think it serves Sonny right getting whatever she throws at him and that he shouldn’t be playing with fire. Others think the push and pull between them makes for great chemistry and that DA Turner is actually much more interested in Sonny than she’s letting on.
But their careers keep them polarized and on opposite sides of the law. While they might end up tempting fate and letting things lead far past flirtation, where can any of this really go? That might be a valid reason to make sure these two implode before anything more serious can happen.
Flirting with Danger
Sonny has flirted with members of law enforcement many times over the years. Remember District Attorney Margaux Dawson (Elizabeth Hendrickson)? Point blank — it can’t work; it never has.
He loves the chase, and he loves the idea of being slick enough to make someone like Justine fall from grace and compromise herself because she cares about him.
He knows how to lay the charm on thick. But he’s playing with fire this time because Justine isn’t genuine, and if we know Sonny, he is.
So why are we pretending this is going anywhere good? What happens? He gets his heart broken in the end?
DA Turner Plays the Game
Any proper Sonny fan wants him to continue coming out on top. That’s not going to happen if he just gets played by the DA.
We already see Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) pulling so many strings that Sonny doesn’t seem to have any viable way of getting out from under.
Sidwell could demand virtually anything from the mob boss right now and it seems he would have to comply.
How sustainable is that storyline anyway? It sounds like it’s about as solid as the fairytale fiction that is Sonny and Justine hooking up. A six-month slow burn romance is great, but only when it actually has a climax.
Justine Doesn’t Equal Justice
She might work on the “right” side of the law, but a love story with Justine wouldn’t do Sonny any justice — especially with concerns that Maurice Benard will retire from the sudser in the next few years.
If GH is somehow laying the groundwork for Sonny to retire, I’d hate to see him lay down his torch just to settle down with the District Attorney.
Booooring! Send him to Puerto Rico for a few years, make him go missing again, or have someone like Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) or Giovanni ‘Gio’ Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) replace him.
But for goodness sake, let’s not neuter him even more than Nixon Falls already did. Being with Justine would require Sonny to lose his edge, and we fans aren’t ready for that. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
Personally, I don’t see much more between Justine/Sonny than flirting with both using the other for whatever either may need. I feel Justine has an attraction to Sonny and feels he has one toward her that may help her bring him down which would further her carerr. As far as Sonny is concerned he is just being Sonny but keeping a probable enemy close. I don’t see a romance developing, I could be wrong but believe most are reading more into the flirtations than needed.
