Prince Harry has managed to steal the royal family’s thunder yet again. Because he decided to pay his respects to his grandmother on the first anniversary of her death at Windsor Castle, both Prince William and Kate Middleton changed their plans at the very last minute just so they could be seen doing the exact same thing. Although, it wasn’t part of their original plan. Here’s what you need to know.

On Friday, the Prince and Princess of Wales laid a floral tribute of white roses in front of a photograph of Queen Elizabeth at St. David’s Cathedral in Wales. But that wasn’t part of the original plan. But because Prince Harry decided to pay his respects to his grandmother at St. George’s Cathedral in Windsor, it seems like William and Kate had to do something in a public manner as well. Initially, they were just going to have a private ceremony that was just supposed to take place behind closed doors. But it seems like Prince Harry can’t make any headlines unless William and Kate are in it, too.

Of course, many royal fans and critics alike have had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some have even commented with, “This must be part of the competition we see. After weeks of saying private, a day after H speaks, now we are honoring it publicly. Like this shit is a game. Why not just say we will be honoring her by laying flowers PUBLICLY. Just dumb lies for nothing,” along with, “Visiting the crypt at Windsor makes a lot more sense than flying off to Wales for the day. Odd that no one thought of that.”

Another royal critic wrote, “All the other family members are making private visits to commemorate the Queen’s passing but William and Kate make a public spectacle of it. Looks very crass.”

So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter.
