Sofia Mattsson Joins The Cast!
Days of Our Lives announced this past week that General Hospital alum, Sofia Mattsson, is slated to join the cast in an unknown role sometime in early 2027. While the actress has started filming on the Peacock soap, shooting is done several months ahead of broadcast. The actress played Sasha Gilmore on GH from 2018 to 2025.
No more information has been revealed on Mattsson’s role or who she’ll share storylines with.
Off the cusp of this surprising casting news, it was revealed that Galen Gering, who plays Rafe Hernandez, and Elia Cantu, who plays Jada Hunter, have been bumped from their contract status and are now recurring players on the show.
Gering has been with Days since 2008, while Cantu has been with the show since 2022.
Ari Horton Recast Debuts
Meanwhile, actress Vico Escorcia is slated to debut as the new Arianna “Ari” Horton. The actress will appear in the role this Wednesday, April 8. She’ll replace Marissa Reyes, who played Will Horton’s (Chandler Massey) and Gabi Hernandez’s (Cherie Jimenez) daughter on the soap from May 2025 to March 2026. In fact, Reyes’ final episode took place on March 26.
Escorcia will share scenes with Ashley Puzemis, as Holly Jonas and Ari try to mend their broken friendship. Will the two make amends, considering Holly was being drugged with mental health medication without her knowledge? Fans will have to tune in to find out!
