General Hospital Cynthia Watros Celebrates Nina’s Anniversary With Teasers Of ‘Crazy’ Drama Ahead
General Hospital spoilers and updates reveal Cynthia Watros is approaching her anniversary playing the sometimes wacko Nina Reeves! Cynthia recently talked to Michael Fairman TV about her upcoming “Nina-versary”.
GH Had To Find A Dynamo To Replace The Outgoing Michelle Stafford
When Michelle Stafford departed from General Hospital in 2019 to reprise her role as Phyllis Summers on The Young and the Restless, the ABC soap realized it needed to find a true powerhouse to fill her shoes.
Fortunately, a remarkable talent was on hand: the esteemed Cynthia Watros, an Emmy award winner for her portrayal of the eccentric Annie Dutton on Guiding Light during the 1990s. Additionally, the actress had the support of her predecessor, as they met to share insights about all things Nina.
“She genuinely contacted me and mentioned, ‘If you ever feel like calling or texting… ‘” Watros shared with Michael Fairman TV, “and I responded, ‘How about we grab lunch!’ So, we picked an afternoon and spent around three hours discussing” the character, the show, and all the details in between. “I was truly amazed by her kindness.”
Cynthia Made The Character Of Nina Her Own
Since Watros debuted as Nina on June 17, 2019, she has truly made the character her own, giving Nina a sense of urgency that explains even her worst choices — and there are many! Who among us thinks clearly during a crisis-certainly not Nina; throughout her journey, Watros has developed chemistry with various leading men.
She even convinced some fans of the supercouple Sonny and Carly Corinthos (Maurice Benard, Laura Wright) to support the mobster and his new wife; (ah, remember that beautiful wedding!) She doesn’t just receive fan letters; she gets fan bouquets to-what does the future hold for Nina, it hardly matters.
As long as it’s engaging and allows Watros to explore, she will love taking us along for the ride; “I’m an actor who likes to use all of the tools, I enjoy everything.
Might Nina Go Off The Rails And Become Her Original Version?
Viewers should remember when Michelle Stafford’s iteration of Nina first came to Port Charles-she faked her paralysis for quite some time, rolling around like a crazy on wheels. She targeted Ava Jerome (Maura West) for stealing her husband, who had been Silas Clay (Michael Easton) and put her into labor so she could kidnap Avery Corinthos-Jerome (Ava and Grace Scarola).
She took the newborn and fled to Canada, with Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) who had sympathy for her, going with her-he was instrumental in bringing them back to Port Charles.
Franco and Ava had dated so he certainly had a stake in bringing Ava’s baby back to her, but he still was very protective of Nina as well. Nina has made some extraordinary improvements since Cynthia took over the role, but wouldn’t it be fun if she went off the rails and back to the cray-cray version?
