General Hospital Star Nicholas Chavez Hits The Picket Line For The SAG Strike
So, does this mean that he doesn’t plan on returning to the canvas anytime soon? General Hospital star Nicholas Chavez, who is best known for his role as Spencer Cassadine on the hit ABC soap, joined his fellow actors and Hollywood writers to strike on Downtown Los Angeles. The move is a surprising one, seeing how soap opera actors are actually contracted to continue working during the event of a strike. Here’s what you need to know.
General Hospital Star Nicholas Chavez Hits The Picket Line For The SAG Strike
On Friday afternoon, Nicholas took to his Twitter account to share a photo of the SAG strike and captioned it with, “I’m so proud to stand alongside my fellow artists. Together we’re strong!”
Of course, many of his Twitter fans and followers commented on his post with, “Solidarity! Don’t give up! Actors and writers deserve a fair wage, healthcare, and job protection from AI. From one union member to another, we support you!!!” along with, “Great work! I wish I lived somewhere there’s a picket line that I could join. This one of the most important strikes in my memory that goes way beyond the main issues.”
Another fan wrote, “Soap actors will continue to work under Network Television Code which is a separate contract. So it isn’t crossing lines when they contractually have to work. They can still support this strike (as many do things outside of soaps).”
General Hospital News: What’s Next For Nicholas Chavez?
As many fans probably already know by now, Nicholas is taking a leave of absence from General Hospital to work on a new Netflix anthology called ‘Monster.’ Now, whether or not he returns to the daytime television world is anyone’s guess, but it seems like he’s got one foot out the door while also trying to support his fellow actors in a movement that might end up changing the way the entertainment industry operates. So far Nicholas has not made any additional comments about the matter. Watch this space as there is surely more to come.
