Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Galen Gering Says The Writing Has Always Been On The Wall For Rafe And Nicole
Days of Our Lives spoilers say that while there might be a lot of fans out there who are stunned to see that Rafe and Nicole are no longer together, actor Galen Gering says that the writing has been on the wall for the couple for a very long time now. Here’s what you need to know.
Days of Our Lives Spoilers: Galen Gering Says The Writing Has Always Been On The Wall For Rafe And Nicole
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the actor says that he kind of knew that sooner or later things would end up the way they did for his portrayer and his on-again, off-again love interest. He put it this way, “There’s always going to be drama [in a relationship]. The question is, ‘Can you weather the drama?’ Clearly it wasn’t in the cards for these two. In the back of his mind, I think Rafe felt their relationship was doomed, to a certain degree, to begin with, because he cheated on Ava, and that’s really not his m.o. He felt like, ‘Of course, this ended up happening. You’re paying the karmic price.’”
That said though, he did admit that he was a little surprised to read about their break up when he first read it in the scripts. He said, “In this genre, or even in life, just because you end up separating from someone doesn’t mean you don’t get back together. You don’t really know what’s going to necessarily transpire, even though you see something on the page. It could just be a temporary situation. It certainly makes for an interesting story as an actor. It’s, ‘Okay, cool. Now we get to play devastated, breakup, etc.’ That’s always a fun challenge. I certainly like working with Ari [Zucker, Nicole]. So [the breakup is] kind of a drag in that sense.”
Days of Our Lives Spoilers: What’s Next For Rafe?
When asked how it felt to film their split, Galen explained, “They were some of the best scenes I’ve done in a while, the scenes where Rafe was telling Nicole to go. He didn’t want to see it, but this is exactly the person that she is. He gave her the benefit of the doubt all these years. Then he started to cite all the awful things that she’s done and totally let her have it while she was trying to apologize. Those scenes were totally fun for me. Not so much for her [laughs].”
