Days of Our LIves Spoilers: EP Says Move To Peacock Was Months In The Making

Days of Our Lives news says that while a lot of people are still trying to get over the fact that Days of Our Lives is moving from the NBC network to its online streaming platform Peacock, the executive producer of the show says that this was a decision that was months in the making. In fact, EP Ken Corday revealed that DOOL’s unexpected jump to Peacock was “baked into the last contract.” Here’s what he has to say.

Days of Our Lives Spoilers: EP Says Move To Peacock Was Months In The Making

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Corday put it this way, “It’s very exciting. This was baked into the last contract when we were renewed in 2021. The network always had the right to migrate the show exclusively to Peacock and now they’ve decided to do so, and we’re excited.”

Asked if Beyond Salem had played a factor into this decision, Corday explained, “Yes, definitely. I think that Beyond Salem, as wonderful as they were, were, in a way, a litmus test for Peacock to see how the show performed exclusively behind the paywall. Certainly the last one did very well, Chapter 2, and knowing that, they felt the best way to boost subscriptions was to migrate us, and I think Beyond Salem had a lot to do with it.”

As many fans probably already know, Days of Our Lives is the longest-running entertainment series that the broadcast has ever aired. While DOOL is the least watched out of the four main soaps that are still on the air, it pulls in an estimated 1.7 million viewers per day. In comparison, The Young and the Restless over at CBS sees about 3.47 million viewers on any given day.
