The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Critics Slam Show For Rey Rosales’ Death, Lack Of Diversity
The Young and the Restless spoilers say that fans still can’t get over the fact that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) is gone and that the show pretty much did him dirty by making him die in a car crash. To make matters worse, Rey was the last member of the Rosales family on the show, which has a lot of fans pointing out the lack of diversity on Y&R once more. Could this be one of the worst mistakes made by the soap’s writers? Here’s what you need to know.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Critics Slam Show For Rey Rosales’ Death, Lack Of Diversity
Of course, it didn’t take very long for both fans and critics to weigh in on the matter. Many of them took to social media to write, “Shame on Anthony Morina & Josh Griffith. What a bull way to write a character out to usher in three white characters. Absolutely trash. Jordi Vilasuso deserves MORE. Shame on them both,” along with, “Its 2022. It’s ridiculous. What’s next, Sharon using a rotary phone to call Rey to see where he is or Chelsea jumping out of the coffee shop to use a payphone to see what’s taking Rey so long? And the fact that there’s such little diversity has really brought the clock back at least 30 years on this show. Do better.”
Another critic wrote, “There were so many ways they could have written him out. It’s sounding like he was the driver at fault. I felt because we didn’t see him that this was filmed after he left and instead of having an affair with Chelsea they filmed her waiting for him so they could go take Connor to Chicago. Why couldn’t they have had him protecting and serving and killed in the line of duty? Why couldn’t they have had a bomb or gunman in Chicago and Rey died protecting Connor and Chelsea? The writers of the show really did the entire Rosales family wrong.”

Can’t believe they let Rey go and kept that moron Ashland
He deserve more then you gave him, he should have had a funeral with Sharon and her family and then he could have gone to Florida with his family. the whole story line is awful.
I hate that Rey is going off the show and hate worse the way he was taken off.. now he can’t come back unless he’s got an identical twin like several others on the show. But it’s never the same. How bout it was just a dream and he’s not really dead!
I too did not care for the way the writers made it seem like it was Rey’s fault for the accident. And, writing him out period not a good idea either.
Victoria was on the phone clearly distracted and road conditions were very poor.
I think the character of Rey is an important role and does add to the welcomed diversity of race in the cast.
I agree with the comments above. You need to bring him back on the show and say they made a mistake, and he survived the crash.
I thought Ray’s exit was very kind for him. I can’t imagine him cheating on Sharon or get mixed in Chelsea mess. He left with his honor intact.
I think Rey should have been given a better send off, I am going to miss that handsome man. I love me some Rey! He should have a much better funeral here, other than Nick he is so down to earth. I will miss him so much. Good luck to you Rey.
Rey was a wonderful character that all kinds of interesting scripts could have been written for. Y & R has now gotten rid of the entire Rosales family. They have eliminated all the Hispanic characters. Given how rich and white most of the characters are on this show, this was a very unfortunate mistake. The show needs more diversity. Racial, ethnic and economic diversity. And how do they kill Rey off? In a car accident that was apparently his fault. And his funeral? Off screen in Miami? I wonder if Y & R added the Rosales family hoping for more Hispanic viewership- and perhaps when that didn’t happen the way they wanted, they killed off the entire family. Bad move. I am disgusted.
I hated to see (RAY) taken out of Y&R. You Could have given him more exciting parts to play or made his and sharon love for each other more enticing like they were in the beginning. They could not keep their hands off each other. She even went on a police case with him. What happen to the writting-team, loose their train of thought? Why take out all of the Rosales Family? First Autoro, then Lola and now Ray right in the middle of bringing Chance in back as his partner. That does not make sense.
It was no good reason to get rid of Rey. So hard to understand.
