The Young and the Restless comings and goings say that she has a familiar name but now has a different face. That’s because newcomer Allison Lanier is replacing Hunter King as the new Summer Newman in Genoa City. Here’s what you need to know.

If Allison looks familiar, it’s because she starred in the Amazon Prime series Red Oaks along with the indie flicks Fish Bone and Mia. That, and she also had a role in the comedy, It Happened In L.A.
The last time that Hunter King was on the canvas was back in October. And of course, many The Young and the Restless fans sure had a lot to say about Allison joining the show. Some have taken to social media to write, “She looks more like a Faith Newman replacement than a Summer Abbott replacement. Maybe she looks older on camera than in stills. Hair coloring and eyes are similar to Hunter but I think she is actually better looking,” along with, “I’m excited for summer to return, both character and season. She is perfect as Summer. I’m looking forward for her return. Welcome to Y&R.”

Another fan wrote, “Lets hope her rivalry with Sally will continue and she won’t be arm candy for Kyle while he deals with his back from the dead mom. It would be great to see both characters(actors) having their own stories and then returning home to discuss the day or over dinner or cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, it’s time for there to be a bar in this city. A local joint where the likes of Kyle or Noah or Summer or Sally or even Nick would go to just wind down. Yes there is that tiny one at society but lets see Abby’s empire get bigger and she opens a chic dive bar.”
Expect to see Allison on the canvas as soon as May. We can’t wait!

She looks to young to play Summer Abbott. That picture makes her look more like Faith’s age.
I agree. She looks more like a teenager than an adult. Just don’t see her as summer. What is wrong with all those running Y and R??? Too young for Summer ‘s role… She may be older in real life but she will not blend well with the summer character, she looks like a kid… Seriously you guys messed this up
I will wait and see if this young lady can fill,Hunter King’s designer shoes. She does look too young to play Summer, and it’ll be interesting to watch the chemistry she has with Michael.
