The Young and the Restless comings and goings say that a familiar face will be returning to Genoa City sooner rather than later and that’s because actress Melissa Claire Egan is reprising her role as Chelsea Newman! Melissa had a lot going on during the short time that she was gone but is excited to be back on the set of the show. Here’s what you need to know.

Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, the beautiful brunette said that she celebrated quite a few life changes and milestones during her time off from the hit CBS soap. That’s because she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy by the name of Caden, turned 40, and celebrated ten years on The Young and the Restless.
Melissa told the publication that while she’s tired with first time motherhood (as many are during those first few precious weeks), she says that every minute of it has been worth it. She also explained that she and her husband Matt Katrosar had a definitely plan in mind before they named their son. She put it this way, “We always wanted alliteration with the ‘k’ sound to go with Katrosar. We were already going to use Robert for the middle name because that was Matt’s dad, who passed away awhile back, so we were looking at all C and K and even Q names. My mom sent us a lint and one of them was Caden and we both loved the name.”
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: What’s Next For Chelsea?
Melissa also said that she will be back on the canvas as soon as December 14th. Now, as far as what’s next for her alter ego Chelsea Newman, the actress didn’t divulge in too many details, but did say that there’s a huge storyline waiting in the wings for her character. She said that Y&R Producer/Head Writer Josh Griffith, “promised to have a great story waiting for Chelsea. He didn’t tell me everything, no matter how much I nagged him, but he did share a couple of things before I left and one was about some headbutting with Sally.”
