While Dr. Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson) was initially disappointed in the results that signaled he would be taking a backseat to this conversation moving forward, Portia’s demeanor seemed to even out as soon as she settled custody business with Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
In fact, Curtis and Portia got along for the first time in a long time better than usual. But is that the calm before the storm? Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) isn’t wrong to be ruminating on the threats Portia made weeks ago, and now that they know Curtis is the dad-to-be, Jordan won’t be too eager to move forward until that custody agreement is in ink.
One Down, One To Go?
The biggest hurdle in Portia’s path was the paternity test. Now that it’s out of the way, she’s more at ease knowing what she’s working with and what the future holds.
Of course, she might not be thinking about the role that Jordan could play in any of that right now.
Portia was very clear that she didn’t want Jordan involved in her child’s life, and if she starts to realize Curtis is planning to get serious with his ex, she’s likely to feel some way about it.
Will she push pause on the custody papers and go for the jugular to keep Jordan on the sidelines and out of Curtis’ life?
Portia Could Still Be Lying
With the paternity test behind her, Portia could focus on the future, but she is often easily pulled into drama — frequently of her own creation.
It won’t be long before yet another scandal is brewing in Portia’s life, and the theme usually has something to do with lies she’s telling.
Could it be that this paternity test issue resurfaces later proving that she somehow doctored the results or lied? No one asked to see them, after all.
Portia might have thought that if the baby was Curtis’ and she lied to claim it was Isaiah’s, Curtis would want proof.
But Isaiah doesn’t have the same traumatizing background with Portia that Curtis does. She may have surmised that Isaiah wouldn’t require proof the child isn’t his, and decided to take a leap.
Justice and Jordan
Curtis won’t likely think twice about Portia’s past lies when it comes to the current baby on board.
After all, why would she lie about the baby being his if it wasn’t? In Curtis’ mind, Portia was likely hoping the baby was Isaiah’s so that she could have a clean break from him and move on with her life with someone else.
Instead, Portia told Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) weeks ago that she had been hoping the baby was Isaiah’s, but her courtroom confession shifted her position; she was hoping the baby was Curtis’.
Not only would having another baby with Curtis position Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) to be more forgiving toward her mother, but it would give Portia leverage to insert her nose into Curtis’ relationship with Jordan.
