The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers and updates tease Li Finnegan (Naomi Matsuda) is suspicious about Steffy Forrester’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) implant timing.

Li Used A Portable Device Similar To An Ultrasound Monitor

In a recent episode of the CBS soap, Li used a portable device to hear and play the baby’s heartbeat on a speaker for Carter and Daphne Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor, Murielle Hilaire).

Steffy seemed to balk, thinking it was a regular ultrasound, but allowed it when Li said it would only pick up the heartbeat and play it on a speaker, as Finn also stood by.

But when she turned on the speaker, the heartbeat was much louder and stronger than she expected it to be for a newly implanted embryo.

Bold and Beautiful fans know that the surrogacy and implantation story were only a cover to hide Carter and Steffy’s drunken one-night stand on the couch in their office.

Finn went out of town, and when he returned, he wasn’t happy when Steffy made the implant decision independently and said she used one of her frozen eggs!

Li Becomes Suspicious And Decides To Check Things Out

Unless Steffy and Carter used a different hospital or fertility clinic to do the implant, which would be nearly impossible with her frozen eggs there, Li may be able to check things out.

She won’t bring her suspicions to Finn just yet, since there isn’t a need to trouble him when she’s only got a hunch, and a weak one at that.

Li knows if Steffy was already pregnant and didn’t know it yet, then the implant could not be done. An ultrasound is generally part of the process to assess the uterus before an embryo transfer.

If there already was an established pregnancy, it would ordinarily be detected before an embryo transfer was attempted.

Of course, Steffy’s dirty secret could destroy her marriage to Finn if Li starts putting the pieces together.

Li Investigates Steffy’s Frozen Eggs To See If One Was Used

Li, of course, may have to do a little background investigation first to find out exactly how many eggs Steffy had banked, which was done around the time Hayes Finnegan (Bryan Joseph Garlick) was born.

She and Finn wanted to make sure if they wanted another child, there would be viable eggs for implantation, although they didn’t have embryos created, of course.

Li can’t figure out how a supposedly newly implanted embryo already has a detectable heartbeat that seems inconsistent with Steffy’s claimed pregnancy timeline, and Steffy didn’t want a full ultrasound.

That also made Li suspicious, and if, indeed, as Li suspects, Steffy has been pregnant longer than she claims, then why is she lying?

This is going to bug Li until she gets the answers, but if the answers make her more suspicious, how will she tell Finn?

As Finn begins questioning Steffy’s pregnancy timeline, Li’s suspicions could be exactly what finally exposes the entire deception.

I think it’s about time someone started questioning Steffy’s ridiculous surrogacy story! Li is a doctor, and so is Finn, so how long did Steffy and Carter really think they could fool them?

I would love to see Li uncover the truth and be the one to tell Finn what his wife has been hiding. And poor Daphne! She has no idea that the two people she trusts most have been lying to her. When this all blows up, Carter and Steffy are going to have a lot of explaining to do!
