What Did Prince Harry Say About His Uncle Andrew In ‘Spare?’

What Did Prince Harry Say About His Uncle Andrew In 'Spare?'

Fans are revisiting the wise words of a Princely memoir in light of one Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest amid ongoing Jeffrey Epstein-related scandals.

Prince Harry was once believed to be very close to the York family, so much so that he opted to invite Andrew’s ex Sarah Ferguson to his 2018 wedding to Meghan Markle, even though his older brother Prince William didn’t during his.

If you can remember, Meghan was first familiar with Princess Eugenie even before meeting Harry. So there was a lot of shared history there. Now fans want to know just how much of shared history there was.

Prince Harry Compared His Predicament To Prince Andrew’s In This Interesting Way

Whilst Prince Harry tended to sketch over any relationship he might have shared with his uncle – and godfather, might I add – in his memoir ‘Spare,’ there was one point he didn’t mind brazenly throwing Andrew into the mix.

You got that right. It had to do with the issue of security.

“We were taking first steps, trying to be positive. Doesn’t really matter where we live, we said, so long as the Palace fulfills its obligation—and what I felt was its implicit promise—to keep us safe,” Harry writes. “Meg asked me one night: You don’t think they’d ever pull our security, do you? Never. Not in this climate of hate. And not after what happened to my mother.”

He adds, “Also, not in the wake of my Uncle Andrew. He was embroiled in a shameful scandal, accused of the sexual assault of a young woman, and no one had so much as suggested that he lose his security. Whatever grievances people had against us, sex crimes weren’t on the list.”

A screenshot of this passage was shared on X by reporter Ellie Hall, where it quickly went viral, generating over 660,000 views and 14,000 retweets.

With Andrew’s arrest amid reports of traitorous and scandalous affairs, Harry is said to be growing frustrated over the repeated comparisons with his uncle.

“It was never fair to lump them together,” an insider told PEOPLE. “Harry served his country, did the job well and never engaged in misconduct — yet lost security and housing, while Andrew was protected for years.”

Harry and Meghan are yet to directly comment on the Andrew problem.
