The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Tuesday, January 2 tease that the Newman family are front and center in Genoa City, Wisconsin as the New Year begins.

But first there is a programming note to mention, and that is that on Monday, January 1 the show airs an encore episode. But, right as rain, all of your favorite characters return to the screen on Tuesday. Now, let’s delve into what the Newmans are facing as a new year begins.

The family that plays together have just been through a major collective trauma. They also work together at Newman Enterprises and some big decisions need to be made in the boardroom.

For several months patriarch Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) was bound and determined to wrest control of the company back from his kids and run the organization as he saw fit. But that was before their world was toppled by evil doer Jordan (Colleen Zenk).

As it stands today, only Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is Victor’s top priority, and he will vacate the top spot to help her heal.

Y&R spoilers: Victoria’s Snub

That doesn’t mean he installs Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) as CEO. Because as much as Victoria loved running things, she has a newfound daughter to look after, and that will be a HUGE chore. Her daughter Claire Grace (Hayley Erin) has been found alive and naturally she wants to bond with her.

Claire is Victoria’s top priority so it’s natural that Victor would go down the line and assign his sons, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to be co-CEOs. Adam could find out about the Oregon lake house trauma and not like that he’s the last to know.

If Victor walks in on Nick and Adam’s tiff he’ll demand they knock it off, you got that? They will need to be civil with one another if they are to be co-CEOs!

Victor doesn’t have much of a choice for leadership, but how in the world can he trust Nick and Adam to work together when they can barely stand to be in the same room together?

As for Nikki, she is in for a surprise. She continues going to AA meetings but meets a mysterious man named Seth (Brian Gaskill) there. What part will he play in her recovery, and will he be a friend or a foe sent by Jordan to mess up Nikki even more?
