Betty White Dead At 99: Hollywood Star Guest Starred On The Bold and the Beautiful

Hollywood star and cultural cicon Betty White has died at the age of 99, and just a week shy of her 100th birthday. Considered to be a trailblazer of the small screen, White’s career was longer than any other female entertainer, having worked in the industry since 1939. Here’s what you need to know.

Betty White was best known for her iconic sitcom roles on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls,” but she also played Ann Douglas in the mid-2000’s on The Bold and the Beautiful. Ann was the mother of Stephanie and Pamela Douglas. White played the character for 23 episodes until Ann’s death. 

In one particular The Bold and the Beautiful storyline, Ann made a trip back to Los Angeles and dumped a bunch of pills in the ocean before calling her daughters, while also knowing that she was suffering from pancreatic cancer. Ann begged her daughters to let her die the way she wanted to – which was at Paradise Cove, and not in the hospital. Prior to that, Ann was involved in the mystery shooting of Storm Logan.

White is considered to be the first woman to create a television sitcom and also was a staple of many popular game shows of the 1960s, all of which helped give her the title of “first lady of television.” The legendary actress got her start in radio in the ’40s, making appearances on “Blondie,” “The Great Gildersleeve,” and “This is Your FBI.”

Just recently, Betty White made it no secret that she was excited about turning 100. “I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age,” she told People Magazine. “It’s amazing.”

So far White’s family has not made any comments about her passing, nor have details about her funeral arrangements have been made. We will update you with all of the latest details as they come in.
