Royal Family News: Here’s The Reason Why Archie And Lilibet Have Just Gotten Their New Royal Titles
It looks like there are some major changes being made behind the scenes at Windsor Castle. It seems like a lot of people have been left surprised over the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children, Archie and Lilibet, have been given prince and princess titles. Well, there’s a reason behind it. Here’s what you need to know.
Royal Family News: Here’s The Reason Why Archie And Lilibet Have Just Gotten Their New Royal Titles
As many royal fans have noticed, Archie and Lilibet’s names with their official titles have been added to the line of succession right behind their father Prince Harry. A rep for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex even said, “The children’s titles have been a birthright since their grandfather became Monarch. This matter has been settled for some time in alignment with Buckingham Palace.”
It’s also been noted that when Harry’s father King Charles officially became the King of England, Lilibet and Archie automatically became a Prince and Princess, as Harry is the son of a monarch. However, palace officials say that the website wasn’t updated until Harry and Meghan themselves confirmed that the kids would indeed be using their titles. Now that it’s been done, their titles have gone live.
Royal Family News: What’s Next For Harry and Meghan?
Of course, many royal fans and critics couldn’t help but comment on the matter with, “They should have changed it on the website the day they changed the titles from William and Kate and their children. By waiting until now they knew it would cause a media storm pounding on Meghan and Harry. That is how they do it,” along with, “Good. The rules / protocols / longstanding laws haven’t changed. Unless they formally remove Harry from the succession line (which they won’t), his kids have those titles by default whether people like it or not. They are Royal by birth.”
Another critic wrote, “What they mean is they had to wait for the Queen to die for protocol to dictate their right to use the title if they wanted to condemn them to a childhood in the public eye. Princess Royal, Princess Anne, most respected of the royals, wisely chose not to do so for Peter and Zara.”
