Donald Trump’s Milestone Birthday Got a UFC Twist From The View Ladies

On Sunday, June 14, US President Donald Trump celebrated his milestone 80th birthday with celebrations that are so on brand with his personality and mission.
What he wanted more than anything for his big day is to experience a real life UFC match at the White House.
Happily, he didn’t experience it alone, as 4000-plus people came to celebrate with him. Amongst them are Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is an MMA fighter in his own right – he’s even got the battle wounds to prove it – and Paramount Skydance CEO David Ellison.
But a few days prior to this big event taking place at the White House South Lawn, the ladies of The View had some insights on how Trump can make things even more exciting.
The View Ladies Discuss Previous Sporting Events Held At the White House
On the Friday, June 12 episode of The View, the panelists chatted about Trump’s plans to hold a UFC cage match at the White House.
What makes this particular brand of wrestling iconic is that, apart from taking place at the White House, it will also feature elite fighters from all around the world.
Talk about a cultural moment, but the ladies of The View, starting from Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin, and ending with Ana Navarro, all thought the idea was ridiculous.
Comparing it with other sporting events that have taken place at the White House, like George Bush’s annual T-ball game, Griffin said, “Teddy Roosevelt takes the cake. He actually held a boxing match and participated. So I’m for [the UFC fight], but Donald Trump has to get in the ring.”
This, the ladies, especially an enthusiastic Goldberg, readily agreed with. “I like that!” Goldberg chirped in, giddily clapping.
Haines pointed out, “In this administration, with how feckless Congress is, it’s fitting that they’re making it an official cage match. That’s how I feel every time we talk about D.C. There’s a jersey and you’re on this side or this side and … go.”
Hostin felt that apart from the UFC not representing American culture, the whole arrangement is corrupt because “Donald Trump owns stock in UFC. This is a for-profit event on government grounds. Are the taxpayers getting some money? Are we gonna get some checks for this? No, but the Trump family is.”
Maybe the ladies of The View were not very clear with their wishes for Trump to get in the ring. The 80-year-old President did indeed get in the cage on Sunday, but only to congratulate American lightweight Justin Gaethje. Maybe he really did miss the memo.
