Princess Anne Shares Her True Feelings Towards Her Former Daughter-in-law
There are some things that even divorce can never change. For example, like the love and affection shared between a mother and her daughter-in-law.
Autumn Philips may have divorced Peter Phillips after 12 years of marriage, but that doesn’t mean she’s become totally disconnected from the contacts and the alliances she gained through the partnership.
Princess Anne Didn’t Ostracize Her Former Daughter-in-law In Any Way Four Years After She Divorced Her Son
During the Cirencester Park horse trials, which took place this Sunday, royal photographer James Whatling captured Autumn Philips having a relaxed time with her former mother-in-law and cheering on Zara Tindall.
This goes to show that the Canadian businesswoman and the mom-of-two continues to enjoy a close relationship with her ex’s family despite their separation in late 2019.
Speaking to Hello!, Whatling revealed that the vibe he got from the group was that Autumn was still part of the family’s circle and they had such an easy time at the event being there for Zara.
“She’s obviously still part of the family and was chatting to Anne and everyone else,” Whatling explained. “She’s certainly not been ostracised in any way, and it was a nice little support team for Zara.“
The royal reporter then described how Autumn, dressed in a denim jacket and orange patterned skirt, joined Princess Anne and a few others to follow Zara around each competition section.
“They were all following her around to each section – dressage, showjumping etc,” the photographer noted. “They’re a tight unit and they all know each other.”
Despite being originally from Canada, Autumn remained living in Gloucestershire to co-parent her daughters, Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13, with Peter.
Anne’s appearance at the event was a surprise, since she was just back from a two-day visit to Turkey with her husband, Sir Tim Laurence. The visit coincided with the commemorations for the 110th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign.
According to Whatling, Anne has indeed completely recovered from the injury that left her hobbling at the Easter Sunday church service earlier this month.
“She had a shepherd’s crook, as she often does at these things, but she was strolling around, no signs at all of any injury,” Whatling observed.
