Even though Esme’s credit card was used to buy a bus ticket to Toronto, the villain is smarter than to leave a paper trail. So, it was likely a diversion to send detectives on a wild goose chase. Meanwhile, Esme could realize she’s doing all the wrong things and try to do damage control.
What Esme doesn’t realize is that Laura wanted her arrested before she even attacked Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom). While Laura had her reasons, Esme might view this as an attack from someone she trusted.
