While on The Talk, Melody hinted on what’s to come in Genoa City and it looks like art is going to imitate life a little bit here… or it is vice versa? Either way, she said, “The premise is Nikki has put together this huge gala for Genoa City’s bicentennial. We have brought back a lot of former actors to be a part of that. It’s pretty compelling… and pretty shocking. It’s the 50th anniversary — we have to deliver something really good!”

Melody also opened up about The Young and the Restless time capsule that was buried almost 25 years to the day. She said, “I was there, 25 years ago when Bill and Lee Bell, our creators and original headwriters… It was a very big deal and we had a ceremony. And of course, now, 25 years have passed and I couldn’t remember one item that was put in there!”

However, she did also add that, “Christian LeBlanc (Michael), he had several index cards, the big ones for when people give a speech. He said, ‘Mel, look! Bill Bell wrote this. It’s a speech that he wrote exactly 25 years ago.’ I said, “I can’t read this whole thing, Christian.’ He said, ‘Well, just read the first card.’ So I read the first card, and it was so compelling and so wonderful and filled with the history of the show. I ended up reading the whole thing! And it was the best thing to come out of there. Everybody there, you could hear a pin drop.”
