General Hospital news says that Sonya Eddy’s cause of death has been revealed. The actress, who was best known for her role as Epiphany, passed away earlier in the week at the age of 55. Here’s what you need to know.
General Hospital News: Sonya Edy’s Cause Of Death Revealed
According to Page Six, Sonya died after experiencing complications from a non-emergency surgery. She went in for a pre-scheduled surgery on December 9th and was released two days later. Yet, she got sick and returned to the hospital on December 15th. It was then discovered that she had developed an infection that became uncontainable. She was placed on life support and then died later that night.
As many fans probably know, Sonya began her long run on the ABC soap opera in 2006. She also appeared in TV shows and films such as “Seinfeld,” “Patch Adams,” “Reba,” “Monk,” “Joan of Arcadia,” “CSI,” “Glee,” “Castle” and “Fresh Off The Boat.”
It was Sonya’s friend Octavia Spencer who announced the news to the world. She didn’t provide any details regarding the cause of her death. She wrote on Instagram, “My friend @sonyaeddy passed away last night. The world lost another creative angel. Her legions of @generalhospitalabc fans will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones, friends, and fans!”
General Hospital News: Sonya Is Missed By Her Co-Stars
General Hospital exec producer Frank Valentini also wrote on Twitter, “I am heartbroken about the loss of the incredible Sonya Eddy. I truly loved her not only as actress, but as a friend. The lights in the hub of the nurse’s station will now be a little dimmer, but her spirit and light will live on in both the show and our set. On behalf of the entire GH cast and crew, we send our deepest sympathy to her family, friends, and fans,” he added. “She will be very missed.”
Our thoughts definitely going out to Sonya’s family and the General Hospital community of fans during this very said time. There’s no doubt that her legacy will live on in Port Charles.
