The Young and the Restless Comings And Goings: Robert Newman Is Out And Fans Are Upset!

The Young and the Restless comings and goings say that Robert Newman is leaving Genoa City and of course, fans sure have a lot to say about it! The actor, who is best known for his role as Ashland Locke, announced his departure on social media. Here’s what you need to know.

The Young and the Restless Comings And Goings: Robert Newman Is Out And Fans Are Upset!

In a new YouTube video, Robert said, “Just to clarify, the scenes you saw the other day, Ashland dying at the hands of Nick [Joshua Morrow], were in fact my last scenes on the show, the end of my contract. Those were shot about five weeks ago. And since then, I have come home, three thousand miles away from L.A., home to my family, to my lovely wife Britt [Helfer], to my son and daughter-in-law, Connor and Caroline, and to my fantastic two young grandsons, Leo and Rocky, and my daughter Kendal, and I couldn’t be happier about that. Maybe I’ll see you again one day; you’ll never know.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both fans and critics to weigh in on Robert’s departure. Many of them wrote, “Big mistake! I loved him on Y&R, can’t we have another Big Bad on the show? And the way they treat Adam is criminal! The Newmans are the biggest Crime Family in Genoa City!” along with, “He did what we could… but he is worth more. Would love to see him jump to General Hospital, even though I am sure he’d rather be on the east coast. I’m also [not] surprised his one-year deal did end a bit earlier than they were meant to”

The Young and the Restless Comings And Goings: Will Robert Come Back To Genoa City?

Another fan wrote, “I’m sure he wanted to stay longer but maybe after a few months on the show he probably felt that it was best to end his run on the sixth month. I don’t blame him though because Y&R only knows how to write for the Neumans. To hell with the other characters. Robert Newman did great, but if they ever decide to bring back Ashland I hope they bring back Richard Burgi. I just think he was more suited for the role.”
