The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Phyllis & Matt Soul Mate Shocker – Can She Save Him From His Dark Side?
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) sought Patty Williams (Stacy Haiduk) out.
He went to the prison where she’s rightfully being held because her victim’s rights deserve to be upheld. Then he sought to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Asking Patty, of all the people in Genoa City, Wisconsin, was the wrong move. But Matt feels adrift and unable to right his life as he believed was possible.
However, reaching out to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is a positive sign. It means that he hasn’t given up hope, which was first seen when he crumbled the goodbye letter she penned in his hotel room for her.
Patty Williams Has No Redeeming Qualities
Matt felt guilty for having ghosted Patty. That’s basically what he did after she appeared to be an early lifeline.
But the audience and every character in GC who knows Patty’s backstory recognizes that Matt was far better off by having chosen Phyllis.
It’s realistic to conclude that Howarth’s tortured character would have been behind bars or met a grisly fate if he’d chosen to keep Patty as a confidant.
Patty has nothing to lose and, unless she escapes, will pay for her attempted murders.
So, rather than tell Matt the truth that he can break the cycle of villainy, she wanted him to believe that he’s destined to be her.
Sharon Newman Is Right To Be Concerned
Matt might not be able to control his ingrained impulses. So, it’s not that Patty will be proven right because she didn’t believe that he could realize redemption.
That’s the starkest difference between Patty’s view of reality and Phyllis’.
Stafford’s character already believes that Matt is a different man now than when he committed a heinous crime against Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), followed that up by trying to frame Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) for his faked murder, and most recently tried to kill them, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), and his then-wife, Sienna Bacall (Sienna Bacall).
Sharon recognized that Phyllis changed after they were abducted and held hostage by Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins).
That situation forged the friendship that these longtime rivals realized, but it hasn’t swayed Phyllis’ feelings for Matt, who remains troubled and unstable.
Phyllis Summers Believes She’s Found Her Next Soul Mate
Nick and Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) have no plans to reconcile with Phyllis. Nick’s becoming involved with Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow), while Jack’s marriage to Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) was recently restored.
Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian) is back in GC permanently and was hired by Noah to run the Midwestern version of The Shadow Room. Danny soon became a part-owner of the bar.
Yet, his presence isn’t tied to Phyllis because he remarried the love of his life, Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell), last year.
Phyllis is cut off from Summer Newman (last played by Allison Lanier) and has a strained connection with her son, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei).
So, Matt is the type of human project Phyllis needs, and it’s reasonable to believe that he’s her new soul mate and that she might be his as well.
