Adrian Anchondo Opens Up About General Hospital Exit

Adrian Anchondo Opens Up About General Hospital ExitGeneral Hospital spoilers suggest it was a sad goodbye for fans, as well as some people in Port Charles, when Marco Rios was pronounced dead during the Wednesday, March 25 show.

The surgical team at the hospital, led by Isaiah Gannon (Swandi Wilson), did all they could to save him, but the blood the man lost due to his stabbing was just too much. The character’s portrayer recently hopped on social media and opened up about his exit.

Adrian Anchondo’s Message

Anchondo uploaded a variety of behind-the-scenes photos and videos of his last day, and leading up to his last day on General Hospital, via a social media post.

Some of them included some neat footage of him in makeup and getting ready for the gruesome aftermath scenes of Marco stabbing.

There were also some of him with GH co-stars Van Hansis (Lucas Jones), as well as some group shots of him with other General Hospital cast members.

The caption began with, “I started this journey with a story about my mother, how she was with me in spirit at my screen test for Marco, hiding in the compact she used to do her makeup in while she watched soap operas on the couch.”

It went on to say, “Now, I know she is looking down and proud of me for all the work I’ve done in the past year on one of the best shows ever created.”

Anchondo also noted, “She is proud of me for showing up every day and leading with kindness and respect, for fighting through my insecurities and anxiety, and for letting my heart shine through a character that had questionable intentions.”

It’s Not About Him …

In addition, Anchondo stated in the caption that he was for the work he did in representing the Latino and LGBTQI community. He went on to say that the GH fans are sad and noted that while he is still grieving his exit, too, Marco was one small piece in a bigger picture.

The actor goes on to say in the caption, “This isn’t about me, it’s about what’s best for the story. I can’t believe the amount of love I’ve received, especially in the last few days.”

Anchondo noted, “I hope I made you proud. To my queer fans, don’t be discouraged, we will keep spreading our love and fighting for that happy ending.”

The actor thanked General Hospital, ABC, and Disney for making a dream of his dream come true, and he also acknowledged casting director Mark Teschner for “seeing something in me”. In addition, he thanked the GH directors and Executive Producer Frank Valentini.

Of course, Anchondo also recognized his partner, Colton Little (Days of Our Lives’ Andrew Donovan), for being by his side, and took the time to thank his grandmother.

Anchondo closed the caption by acknowledging his onscreen partners, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis), Marco’s dad, Carlo Rota (Jenz Sidwell), and Van Hansis (Lucas Jones).
