The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Abby’s Demand Is Reasonable – Mariah’s Redemption Won’t Be Easy
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Abby Newman Winters (Melissa Ordway) wants the woman who kidnapped her child to stay away forever.
As fans recall, this isn’t the first time that Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes) mental health issues have impacted the Winters’ family.
Devoted viewers recall that Mariah had a tough go of it while carrying Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark).
The issue of surrogacy is hardly simple because some women, including Mariah, develop what they feel is an unbreakable bond with the child they physically carry.
Mariah was a selfless, warm-hearted soul when she volunteered to become the surrogate. Devon Winters (Bryton James) was also generous when he donated, allowing Abby and her then-husband, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd), to become parents.
Chance Chancellor And Abby Newman Chancellor Wanted A Child
The hearts of all involved in Dom’s birth were in the right place. It was also natural that not all went smoothly during the period when Mariah was carrying Dom because of the circumstances and because they were living inside a daytime drama.
This storyline dates back five years, with Chance having been permanently written out of the show last summer.
Chance’s death was shocking because it eliminated a legacy character and ended the namesake lineage of Phillip Chancellor, with Floyd’s character being the fourth in that bloodline.
Ordway dropped to recurring status in the recent past. So, the evolution of this story allows this solid actor to be seen on-screen again.
Will Hensley Sparked Memories Of Ian Ward
Mariah tried to get out in front of her problems that began during an out-of-state business trip that she took last year. That ill-fated jaunt for Cassidy First led to her meeting an older man, Will Hensley (Michael Swan).
Daytime veteran Swan has only been seen in black-and-white flashbacks, with the visual effect of those memories being a sharp touch that Y&R’s team has introduced during this decade.
Mariah’s fragile psyche was jarred by Will because he reminded her of Ian Ward (Ray Wise).
Ian is still alive, as viewers know. However, his appearances are merely in Mariah’s mind. That issue was initially hard to determine because viewers couldn’t be sure if Ian was really present or not.
Hopefully, she’s now able to banish that disturbing projection by receiving sorely needed mental health treatment.
Mariah Copeland Believed She Was Right
Mariah conjured Ian into existence as a means of justifying her actions. He was leading her to take Dom because that was her child, which is what the real Ian did decades earlier when receiving a stolen baby, Mariah, at his cult, The Path.
Taking Dom and heading to Mexico wasn’t something Mariah would ever believe was right. But she was reeling psychologically and didn’t have treatment or medication to keep her stable.
Dom helped to prevent Mariah from going further. Thankfully, she pulled her car over, and the authorities were able to facilitate Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) ability to meet with her daughter. All was resolved, with Mariah’s legal issues inevitably resulting.
