The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Victor Won’t Let Matt Walk Away – Is Phyllis About To Blow Their Deal Apart?
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) took control of Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) because he wouldn’t allow Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) to ruin his life by killing this revived villain.
Now, months later, Matt lets Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) cut the ankle monitor Victor applied, and there are no consequences?
It’s a stretch to think that Victor would allow matters to get this far. But then again, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was suddenly struck blind and, within a matter of weeks, regained her ability to see in Genoa City, Wisconsin. So, the Moustache has been arguably distracted.
Devoted viewers are waiting for the inevitable screws to be re-tightened. Matt and Phyllis are likely being allowed to think they’ve escaped Victor’s wrath when they can’t possibly have, because that would undermine Victor’s reputation as the Grinch who ruins every Christmas, never experiences an epiphany, and makes people’s lives miserable throughout the year.
Victor Newman Cares When He’s Forced To
Even Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) recently defended Victor. That happened when Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) felt Nikki was a hypocrite for reuniting with Victor after saying she was done with him because of what he did to Jack.
Nick’s drug addiction hasn’t been easily resolved. Of course, his leaving rehabilitation shortly after checking in didn’t help.
Victor’s concern for his oldest son caused him to want Nick with the family to celebrate Nikki’s returned vision. But that led to Nick’s relapse and the near fatality of the character who is his new romantic interest, Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow).
Matt Clark Retains Some Of The Bad Boy
Matt did lose his memory and has regained it. The rapidity of that process was reinforced when Nikki’s vision returned in recent days.
Howarth continues to kill it as the modern version of a character who was introduced in the mid 1990s. His version of Matt is fully regretful for the pain he caused, and he wants to live a clear life.
But the bad boy element inside of him remains. He could have made his apologies and left Genoa City, Wisconsin, long ago. That didn’t happen, and he’s purposely staying in town as a form of spite.
Matt intends to prove everyone wrong about his redemption and has been snapping back at those who continue to berate him. Phyllis feels his pain.
Phyllis Summers Was Given A Gift
Remember earlier when concerted efforts were made to present Victor as something more than a heartless lout?
Well, adding to that intent, Victor was serious when he gave Arabesque to Phyllis as a thank you for helping to save Nick’s life. Viewers can suspend disbelief by also thinking that Victor hasn’t come down hard on Matt for having shut off the digital monitoring system because he was chiefly responsible for Nick’s life being saved when he overdosed.
It’s no surprise that Phyllis wants Matt to help her run whatever she rebrands Arabesque as. The unusually named Summers Conglomerate could mean that Daniel’s name is part of this company or she develops a new name that suits her personality.
In any regard, Victor is right. He said that she can make something out of a company Phyllis says was stripped to nearly nothing. That alone, with Matt’s transformation into a corporate suite, should prove worth the continued watch.
