The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: Eric’s Decision Sparks Legal Battle With Bill and Katie
The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers document that Eric Forrester (John McCook) made a deal with Katie Logan Spencer (Heather Tom). He volunteered to be her mentor and then surprised her with a much greater gift.
Giving Katie his newest designs for Logan allowed her to launch her fashion house with immense pop. But his choice to recently leave Logan and return to Forrester Creations creates multiple dilemmas.
Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) apology served a large piece of humble pie to his dad, which Eric accepted after making his feelings directly known.
He wanted Ridge to listen to him from here on out. There will be no retirement, but that doesn’t resolve what has now become a likely legal issue.
Who Owns Eric Forrester’s Newest Creations?
A case can be made that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) is the rightful owner of the designs Eric made through the day he decided to leave Logan and return to FC. Any work created during the period from when he first committed to Katie through the episode where he and Ridge reconciled would seem right.
However, a good lawyer, like Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), would likely assert that Eric was under duress and that the work he created before leaving FC and verbally agreeing to be Katie’s lead designer is not Logan’s property.
But it would seem that if what Eric told Ridge holds, then FC’s co-Chief Executive Officer should listen to whatever decision his father makes. If Eric wants to honor his agreement with Katie, then she might be free to use his designs. Otherwise, a legal fight will ensue.
Bill Spencer’s Renewed Business Approach Endorsed By Wife
Bill was quick to tell Ridge that the sword necklace he’s again wearing was a wedding gift from his renewed wife. Viewers could attest that Katie told her husband that she doesn’t want him to forever bury his Dollar Bill persona.
Instead, Katie said that she wants Bill to honor that part of his personality. That request gave him the go-ahead to aggressively push Logan into the fashion world’s consciousness.
At this stage of the soapy game, unless some alternative path opens, Katie needs to use Eric’s designs. Without them, she has no backup plan and won’t have a collection to present.
Fashion Line Launch Includes Great Drama
So, the stage appears set. Bill is telling Katie that she has every right to have Eric’s designs turned into actual clothing that her models can wear on the runway.
Ridge and Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) will presumably implore Eric to side with them in stopping the Spencers. McCook’s character has a quixotic persona, so it’s challenging to know how he’ll respond to Logan’s intention of using his designs.
Viewers have to wonder if Eric will choose to remain at FC or straddle the line between being there and also being part of Logan’s launch, as he promised. Ridge and Brooke wouldn’t like that compromise, but Eric set terms of his return to the fashion house that bears his name, though possibly not all of his newest designs.
