According to reports, the Sussexes are struggling to find a foothold after losing several deals, and with thousands of As Ever stock piled up in a warehouse thanks to poor sales, they’re growing desperate for a new cash flow.
Can the couple continue to fake it till hey make it, or will faking it at this point drive them into bankruptcy?
Meghan Markle Reportedly Drove Off Brands With Her Eagerness
Even though the purse is said to be currently tight for the Sussexes, Meghan Markle is reportedly not ready to let go of her high-end fashion persona and has instead chosen to reach out to brands in the hopes of some freebies.
A royal commentator revealed, “Meghan Markle has reportedly been asking top labels for free clothes as she plans a public reset. As a result, she is facing backlash from the fashion world.”
They continued: “The push has sparked a new nickname from critics who are now calling Markle “Duchess of Discounts.” Moreover, the ‘ethics’ of the requests are being called into question when designers normally offer not being asked, move is raising questions about whether major houses want to be linked to her questionable image.”
Following the report of this are rumors that Prince Harry discreetly reached out to his father to ask him to help them tide over these drier times.
2025 Wasn’t the Best Year For Prince Harry and Meghan Markle
On Day One of 2025, Meghan Markle made her grand return to Instagram. With this came reports that she’s finally ready to launch her lifestyle brand. 2025 saw the launch of As Ever, and the release of two seasons of her Netflix cooking show, ‘With Love, Meghan,’ along with a Christmas special.
But with reports that As Ever has thousands of products in stock and that Netflix isn’t interested in renewing ‘With Love, Meghan,’ many have chosen to see 2025 as Harry and Meghan’s gloomiest year yet.
“They had such big plans for 2025 and really believed it would be their breakthrough period. Instead, it turned into the year from hell,” a Hollywood insider said of the couple’s crumbling star power.
