The Bold And The Beautiful’s Brad Bell loves to keep fans guessing, especially during the Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) Story. The Bold and the Beautiful executive producer and head writer recalls the moment when he decided to save Liam from his brain cancer as he now has a new lease on life.
Brad Bell Explains The Story Switch
Bell explained in an interview with TV Insider, that Liam was going to die from brain cancer. However, Brad found himself struggling to go through with it.
In the end, it turned out that this was a risk that Bell was not willing to take. Bell likes to keep views guessing and that is what he decided to do instead.
“As a writer, I feel like I have to do things that are unpredictable to keep people on their toes,”, Bell said. So Bell decided to have Liam come up as misdiagnosed.
Instead, Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech) used Liam to get a million dollar payout to pay off her ex-husband’s gambling debts to save her daughters from his loan sharks.
“But when it came down to it, I thought of the body of work that Scott has done, and the incredible actor that he is, and I couldn’t do it,” Bell explained, referring to the difficult moment. Bell struggled with a creative direction for this story.
Liam Spencer Reunites With Hope Logan
Months ago, Liam was sure he was going to die and didn’t want anyone to know about it. However, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) went against his wishes and told Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) what was going on with him. Now Hope and Liam have remarried revealing that Bell’s focus was to unite them.
“And after all that Hope and Liam have been through, to keep the character alive and to see his family come together just won out in the end in my mind,” Bell said.
However, it is questionable just how long Hope and Liam’s marriage will last now that Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) is back in town. Thomas plans to be at the forefront of Forrester Creations now that Eric Forrester (John McCook) has retired.
Hope does not want Thomas taking over as the lead designer on Hope For The Future. Hope doesn’t even want to be in the same room with Thomas and actually argues for her brother to continue on her line.
However, Hope’s concerns are shot down as she is forced to work with Thomas and her brother is let go. What will this mean for Hope’s position at Forrester Creations?
