Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: The High Stakes Of Philip’s Rescue – What Price Will Xander Pay?
Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) has finally awakened, leaving his brother Xander Kiriakis (Paul Telfer) astonished. Surprisingly, Philip is set to deceive and protect Xander; but will this silence come with consequences?
Xander’s Awkward Pillow Encounter
It’s quite uncomfortable when the brother you attempted to kill wakes up just as you’re trying to suffocate him with a pillow.
That’s exactly the situation Xander found himself in at the start of this week, pillow in hand, hovering over Philip, who opened his eyes and saw his brother. Xander deceived others by claiming he was in the room merely to check on Philip, as one does after trying to murder someone.
Naturally, Xander also lied, saying he was simply wishing his brother Philip a quick recovery. He even remarked on what a miracle it was that his brother finally regained consciousness.
Philip’s Revelation And Kate’s Suspicion
Naturally, Kate Roberts Brady (Lauren Koslow) was panicking when she noticed the Salem cop at the coffee station in the lobby getting water instead of being stationed outside her son Philip’s room.
The officer said he suddenly felt sick and had to rush to the bathroom because he felt like throwing up-Kate suspected something was off and informed Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu).
Both Kate and Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey) were shocked to see Philip awake with Xander in the room. Since they both suspected Xander was responsible for putting Philip in that coma by nearly beating him to death, they were very cautious about Xander’s presence this week.
So, Philip surprises everyone when he shares a different account of the night he was attacked.
Xander Pays The Price For Philip Remaining Silent?
Xander might have to face a steep price for this deception to avoid prison; that remains to be seen. Philip’s support for Xander could come at a significant cost, and he might want complete control of Titan-DiMera in return. For the moment, Kate is just happy that Philip is awake and recovering well.
However, Xander is worried that Philip will file charges for the assault and have him sent directly to Statesville prison; in fact, Xander fully anticipates that Philip will take that action. Therefore, he left before he could be interrogated, just as Philip was about to speak.
Philip’s Deception, Xander’s Fury
Incredibly, this week Philip is lying to everyone about the events of the night he was attacked; initially, Jada confronts him about what took place. From the start, Philip claims his brother did not hurt him and insists it was definitely not Xander-however, we are aware of Philip’s deceitful nature.
Therefore, Xander might have to relinquish control at Titan-DiMera or Philip could file charges against him.
Even if the forgery incident comes to light there could be extenuating factors considering Xander brutally assaulted Philip; Xander and Philip were getting along well until the forgery deception and the Versix issue. Xander has been furious ever since he discovered that his brother Philip used the letter forged by Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) to sue him for half of Titan.
Brotherly Bonding To Heartbreak?
Before that happened, Xander was rolling with the punches and treating Philip like a brother, but it got even worse when Sarah chose to lie for Philip to her beloved husband.
But honestly, Xander and Philip really did enjoy each other’s company-they were getting along well, making significant progress, and had taken DiMera right from under Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). They were high-fiving and bonding as brothers-it was quite sweet.
However, when the harsh truth surfaced, Xander was, I think, incredibly angry with Philip, and the Versix incident was the tipping point. Ultimately, Xander was heartbroken because he had started to think of Philip as his brother, so from his viewpoint, it felt like everything was a lie.
Xander’s Motives-Was There Premeditation?
After Xander confronted Sarah, she showed no remorse for lying to him. Xander is currently angry with her, particularly because she is preventing him from seeing his daughter, Victoria Margaret Horton-Kiriakis (Islay and Paisley Kerr). It’s unclear if Xander intended to harm Philip out of anger or if he thought that by dealing with Philip, he could escape prison, especially since Philip might not wake up.
Xander may not have fully considered his actions; Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) had just been talking to Xander about his anger management and impulse control. However, Xander’s actions this week seemed calculated since he likely planned to drug the guard-at least, that’s what we’re assuming.
Is Philip’s Forgiveness Legitimate?
Philip may have forgiven Xander for the initial beating, thinking, “I deserved it,” but the later act of planning to suffocate him in the hospital is likely much harder to overlook.
Xander hitting Philip in the hotel room was a result of his anger issues, but the second attack this week was clearly planned. Philip can tell Jada that Xander nearly killed him, and he can also say he woke up to find Xander with a pillow over his face.
The beating could be reduced to manslaughter, which could mean a few years in prison for Xander. However, the second attempt on Philip’s life was definitely premeditated murder, which could lead to a life sentence.
Can The Brothers Reconcile?
Hope may not be entirely lost for the Kiriakis brothers to reconcile and act like real brothers; Philip might intend to strengthen his brotherly relationship with Xander. With this renewed bond, Philip will also attempt to assist Xander in winning back Sarah-his goal is to mend what he has broken.
Yet, it’s important to note that Philip’s motivations might not be entirely selfless. Philip, after all, is a Kiriakis and has Victor Kiriakis’ (John Aniston) genes, as does Xander. Because of that, both of them have that selfish and scheming side, and are capable of ulterior motives.
Philip Swears It Wasn’t Xander Who Beat Him To A Pulp
To begin with, Philip asserts that it wasn’t Xander who nearly took his life. Jada informs DA Belle Black (Martha Madison) about Philip’s statement, and Belle is bound to lose her cool, confront Philip, and demand an explanation for his dishonesty. While Belle and Jada might suspect that Xander is posing a threat to him, Philip stands firm in his belief that Xander is innocent.
Philip might expect something significant in return for his silence and for keeping Xander out of jail, he could insist on regaining his co-CEO position, or even more. Additionally, there’s the pressing question of whether Philip is helping Xander out of guilt, genuine kindness, or for more self-serving and predatory motives.
What Price Might Xander Have To Play?
Whatever Philip wants, I think Xander will have to agree because he can’t harm Philip right now since he’s already the main suspect in the recent attack.
So, we’ll find out if Philip asks for a lot to keep Xander out of jail or if he simply says, “You need to let me back into your life.” He wants to make things right and for them to truly be brothers. Real brothers without any hidden motives.
Meanwhile, Kate wants Xander in prison and might argue that Philip isn’t thinking clearly due to his injuries, or that his memories are unreliable, or that Xander has threatened him into silence.
But if Philip stands firm that his brother is innocent, there’s nothing Kate, police commissioner Jada, or District Attorney Belle can do about it.
