Heather Tom Opens Up About How She Got Her Role as Victoria On The Young and the Restless
Before she was Katie Logan on The Bold and the Beautiful, she was a very feisty Victoria Newman on The Young and the Restless. In a throwback interview with Soap Opera Digest, actress Heather Tom opened up about how she got her job on the hit CBS soap way back in 1997. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Heather Tom Opens Up About How She Got Her Role as Victoria On The Young and the Restless
Speaking to the publication in an interview that was first published in 1997, Katie said that when she first found out that she got the job on The Young and the Restless she was actually selling cookies at a cookie store for $4.25 an hour! Even though she hated the cookies, Heather said, “but the clothes I bought were my most prized possessions, because I felt like I really earned them. Every two weeks, I would get my check for $80 and I’d be like, ‘Wow.’”
Of course, that all changed the moment she became a daytime television star. Heather said, “I was blindly enthusiastic when I started. I used to float into work; getting scripts was like getting Christmas present.”
And even back then, Heather had a lot on her plate as she was working full-time and she was also taking classes at UCLA. If that weren’t enough, she also worked with her theater company, The Creative Outlet. It sounds like she was always someone who loved to work on multiple projects at the same time.
Heather Tom Was Always A Multi-Tasker
Heather said at the time, “I have to take time to make sure I can do everything I commit to. I’m one of those people who says, ‘Yes” to everything. Sometimes, I get spread thin and things fall through the cracks. I used to have an excuse: I’m busy. ‘Well, we’re all busy, Heather,’ as someone reminded me recently. From now on, I want to take responsibility for my actions.”
