There was some speculation that bits and pieces of Harry’s book would end up in either People Magazine or Vanity Fair, but that didn’t happen. Instead, it seems like just a few selected media outlets managed to get their hands on the book and have shared excerpts on their websites five days before the memoir was supposed to hit bookshelves.
Royal correspondent Dickie Arbiter was one of the first to weigh in on the matter on social media. He wrote on Twitter, “Newspapers would have paid top £s, $s, €s to serialize SPARE. Turns out the embargo was blown. @guardian got a copy, @PageSix got excerpts & #mailonline translating from the Spanish version after it went on sale early. So who orchestrated the leak?”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for royal fans and critics alike to weigh in on the matter. Many of them wrote, “Apparently the publishers & the Sussexes’ team had already publicly stated that there were no plans to serialize the book. As for the leak, that’s anyone’s guess. As the Palace has apparently not received any copies, it must surely be from those with full access to the book,” along with, “If #PrinceHarry and #Meghan had been granted their wish to combine money-making with official duties, the #Royal Family would have been dragged into this sort of row on a regular basis.”
With that said, fans will simply have to wait until January 10th to read what the Duke of Sussex has to say about his life as a royal. But before that though, he will be doing the media rounds. Harry will be interviewed by Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes as part of his promotional tour for his upcoming book.
